Our Time, for children 18 months - 3 years, Wednesdays 10:00am - 10:45am. This session's unit is Wiggles and Giggles, which uses songs, dances, and instruments to explore the world of movement – so important to the developing toddler! Your home materials will include an instrument, two CDs, and two books to read together as well as a Home Activity Book with tons of songs, ideas, and information to expand on the each week's class material.
Sign & Sing, for babies 6 months through children 3 years, Wednesdays 11:00 - 11:45am. From the moment a parent meets that little one, there is a strong desire to understand. What is he thinking? Is he hungry, tired, too cold, content? Early on, every baby also has an innate desire to communicate. Music, games, and rhymes help teach hearing children and parents to use family friendly American Sign Language signs to facilitate communication and learning – and fun! The ten week session is divided into two units, each with a set of home materials including a parent handbook, a DVD, and a set of clip-on flashcards to help you remember the signs you've learned in class.

Last night at our house was typically chaotic. I made dinner as my 7 year old worked on Valentines while listening to an audiobook, and our overgrown puppy rushed around chewing things and being generally rambunctious. I had tuned out most of the ruckus when my daughter said "Did you notice he's barking in a steady beat?"
Her awareness of steady beat helps her in dance class and of course in music, but when you think about it you realize that it also helps her when she rides a bike, uses scissors to cut out her valentines, stirs up our pancake batter, and even reading, because being able to maintain a steady beat is an important factor in the ability to speak and read in a smooth cadence. We all know we have a steady beat inside our bodies – our trusty hearts thumping along minute by minute all our lives long. By the time they're toddlers, kids are starting to be able to match an external steady beat by beating a drum, shaking a jingle bell or bouncing on their beloved grownup's lap.
